First we closed our Taylor Pool in the summer of 2000 due to Covid Fears. We could not have 50 kids in the pool in fear they may spread Covid underwater. Hey those scuba diving masks weren’t even considered?? Then we removed the propane heater tanks ????. The next summer the Council voted to close the pool for good without a vote from the Parks & Recs Board which I called a sham, and was reprimanded and recommendation was made to remove me from the Board! For standing up for the kids and the pool? The stupid part was nobody had an expert evaluation done nor would they allow someone to do a free evaluation of the pool before they voted to condemn it. PS: Jim Ferris and Suzy Tubbs voted “No” on the Demolition. Steve Otto was also voted off the Parks & Recs board for disagreeing and calling the town manager, Troy Smith, a liar. Which was actually the truth, ha . The town manager and ex parks director were not qualified pool experts but condemned the pool anyways . Wait it gets sillier…Next the demolition costs to remove Taylor Pool have been rumored to be close to 500k. And to put back in its place new park amenities add another 500k. A renovation of the existing pool may have only cost 100k to 200k. Now it gets even sillier…the pool demolition was taken out of the Parks & Recs board’s hands and given to the Streets Dept. When I requested this fiasco be put on the Parks & Recs board agenda we were officially told the whole demolition and re-landscaping the Taylor Pool area would be put on indefinite Hold. Put on hold till after the election as the town needs us to Vote “Yes” for Home Rule so they can foolishly spend our tax money with zero accountability?? Or were they waiting till my term was up on the Parks & Recs board ? Only time will tell but the last 3 years volunteering for the Parks/Recs have to qualify for Maximum Stupidity on my part for being fooled for 3 years on the Covid, Corrupt Elections, and Town Bureaucrats all working hand in hand to undermine the People, milk the taxpayers money. I feel mostly stupid and sorry for the children who haven’t had a pool to swim in for 3 Summers . For that we all win the Maximum Stupidity Award ???? PS: Let’s not be fooled again/vote smart/vote 4 Doug Laird Mayor, JimFerris & Steve Otto and Suzy Tubbs for Council and keep fighting for Freedom.
