Well another Project scrapped. The Splash Pad which started in 2018 was finally stopped. It grew from 250k to close to one million dollars. The town had acquired a grant and a project manager and even demolished a sheriff’s building in its location. I remember while being on the Parks & Recs Board, meeting with the Splash Pad contractor and going over all the plans. It’s been reported the town had close to 80k invested in the project. One councilor said, “There is too much animal feces in the park especially when rolling up snowballs to have a Splash Pad.” Make sense? No because we had an animal fence figured in so unless the elk learned how to fly like Santa’s reindeer I think it was just another ill attempt at canceling the Splash Pad. I’ve heard all excuses such as flooding in a Splash Pad to needing more parking as we somehow seem to accommodate parking for Yuuge events such as July 4th fireworks. Anyway the Splash Pad now reminds me of our Taylor pool closed to Covid then never reopened. The Splash Pad also stopped during Covid then continued for 3 more years. Star valley will have a small one built in a year with what we spent to do nothing. Huh? That’s maximum stupidity if ever I saw it. But the stupidest thing is did anyone ask the kids how they felt after waiting for 5 years for a Splash Pad? To the kids, “We the adults in this town win the award for failing you again.”
