“She was just sick like any other time, These are the words that play in my head over and over. Our daughter Zoe had a fever, cough, and congestion on a Sunday. She started complaining about her ear hurting so I planned on taking her into the doctor the next day. Monday morning came and a rash had appeared overnight on her neck; a cluster of tiny red flat dots. I took her in and the doctor had concerns so she ordered blood work and we went in the next day. I got a call from the doctor Wednesday morning to go to the ER for more testing. At this point my heart dropped and I instantly knew something was wrong.”
This story is a nightmare for families that live it, but in Payson our compassionate community is always ready and willing to offer support. We are proudly the Heart of Arizona.
Recently I spent time with Pam McMurtry, a friend and neighbor here in Payson. I had seen a donation jar for her granddaughter, Zoe, in the dentist office just a week or so before. She told me that many of the local businesses in Payson have are helping gather donations with to help with a Crowdfunding Project for her 5 year old Grand Daughter, Zoe’s, fight with acute lymphoblastic Leukemia. When asked to place donation jars in their local shops and businesses for Zoe, the genuine concern and willingness to help her fight was over whelming. The family has been so blessed to have such an outpouring of support from the business community, and Payson as a whole for the donations made through Zoe’s Go Fund Me Page.[12]
Zoe and her family send a very special “Thank You” to all the businesses that have created space for donation jars in their work place. Much appreciation to all for the many Prayers and Contributions to help Zoe with this struggle. She is a very strong little girl, with a beautiful future ahead. The family wishes all the best to all of the wonderful people that have offered their help and support at this time. Payson’s big heart makes it truly a very special place to live.
