A New Bill Sponsored by a state representative to eliminate the grocery tax, HB 2061, in all cities, towns and municipalities in Arizona is being voted on now. I’ll call it the hamburger 🍔 bill. No longer will you be paying the evil regressive tax on your groceries. Now the town government and overpaid administrators will cry 😢 that they need the money for the first responders police 👮♀️ and fire👨🚒. The truth is they need your hard earned grocery tax money to pay their Yuuuge newly hired and unneeded bureaucrats salaries, some over 100k a year, that they call management. They are not hiring more parks or streets workers to fix the streets or maintain the parks they hire more managers. We have terrible roads, no pool, no splash pad, no covered event center, canceled events such as the Mudder and high fees that that scare away tournaments not to mention businesses that leave town also. And we have a 9.48 % sales tax and a 2.88 % grocery tax. You tell me if you feel like you’re getting a great deal?? Also We the People never voted on the grocery tax just the 7 Dwarfs on the council years ago enacted it for us. Thank you but we’d like to vote on it ourselves. P.S. The .88% sales tax in 2017 was also enacted on us by our current mayor and one member of the council without our vote. They now claim it is against Arizona State Law to raise a sales tax without our vote. It sunsets 🌅 in 2027 so our sales tax in 4 years would be 8.60%. I like math but hate taxes without representation. Hey sounds familiar. No taxation without representation. Our town government claims they are our representatives. I say the representation is “We The People” not just the council members or the 7 Dwarfs as I jokingly call them. I’ll never vote for another tax unless it’s a revenue bond that “We the People” agree on for a special project like covering the Rodeo Event Center. But No More IMPOSED Regressive Evil Taxes like the grocery tax put on “We The People”, us. I hope someday to celebrate this bill when it is passed by eating some tax free groceries. 🤠
