It’s hard to believe that the group Unite Payson, claimed a total expense for the 4th quarter, 2019, of a mere $723.30 [11] in their efforts to recall our Mayor. And that includes only $500 for the law firm of Snell & Wilmer to represent them! Only $500 spent to lose in both Gila County Superior Court, and their appeal in Arizona Supreme Court! I don’t know about you, but I know of no law firm (not even one lawyer, but a law firm) that will represent anyone in court, for that! Perhaps Snell & Wilmer are working for the new Arizona minimum wage? I highly doubt it? When you consider correspondence, briefs, arguments. depositions, statements and rebuttals, plus the appearance of several lawyers traveling to Payson for a half-day hearing, I find this claim ludicrous!
It’s hard to believe that the amount also includes advertising, bank fees, and a few incidentals. No rent for their office in Swiss Village? So, the questions remain…”Who’s paying for this, and how can they get away with this?” It’s just logically unbelievable!
That makes me wonder further, who is paying for their legal maneuverings when it comes to their current intent to sue the town of Payson (we the people) for $87,400,000.00! [12] That’s right. They filed an intent to sue Us! And I’m willing to bet that some of the names on the various boards represented by the MHA, RCEA, RCEF, will soon appear on local ballots for town positions this summer. Watch also for those who actively backed such an ill fated effort.
We the people voted to end the back room deals, and bring transparency to Rim Country in the last election. Apparently, we still have a long way to go. I encourage you to VOTE in the upcoming election for those who are dedicated to forcing this type of thing out of our Town for good. It’s hard to believe isn’t it? I don’t believe it for a second. Who’s the man behind the curtain? And what are they so afraid of? Any guesses?
