Deborah Rose Candidate for Town Council 2020
Deborah Rose who are you? Servant leader, quantum thinker, effective goal realizer, peacemaker.
Are you content with your life? Trick question… Yes & No. Content with life & God, yet always curious and growth oriented.
What has been your biggest accomplishment so far in life? Being a Mom. Being a small business owner.
What businesses, boards, committees, sub-committees, charters, commissions, non-profits, foundations, political or not political appointments or
elected position have you been/or are you not a part of? Secretary for the Central AZ Board of Realtors.
Why are you running for Town Council? One of the reasons I want to run is so that I can get into a deeper
relationship with our local government and learn, understand and develop systems that will impact the good people of Payson.
Have you run for or held this or another office before? No .
What is it you would like voters to know about you? I have a very strong work ethic, justice oriented, like to work with the Tonto Apache.
What makes you the best candidate? I’m fair, open minded and collaborative.
What would you do differently than current officials? Slow the process down! Discuss, research.
Do you see benefit in the Town being a part of the SLE?
Several entities, roles and systems seem vague and i would research out these things, including why the SLE was created and for what purpose.
If certain entities were created to benefit our local public servants, then i would have to take issue with that, since it violates the Town Code of Ethics. I am deeply interested in what has happened to all the money raised for the purpose of bringing ASU to town, and protecting the monies that funnel through the town’s treasury. I am a big believer in following the money trail to ensure corruption has not occurred or will occur.
Payson sells water to the county clubs at a loss to the town for 50 years, what would you do about it? n/a
Do you want Payson to grow? It must grow within reason to sustain a retirement age population
If so, how and where do you think growing would most benefit Payson? Slowly with well thought out plans expertise.
If you could see into the future, what would Payson be like in 5 years? Hospitable to the working class.
What is our responsibility for community sustainability in Payson? As far as sustainability, yes we need to take steps to creating more recycling options that actually deal with getting plastic, cardboard, paper and aluminum down to the Valley where they can actually be recycled. In the past we’ve been led to believe that trash companies were doing that but instead caught taking the dumpster contents to the landfill. SO yes, we need to figure this out as a community.
Would you support more regulation or more enforcement? You don’t need a lot of this if people are educated, trained.
Would you support partnerships with state and federal agencies or local town and county collaborations? Everyone, whoever wants to.
Are we doing enough clean energy production or can we do more? We have no resources locally.
Would you support more small businesses or more chain franchises? Small businesses.
Would you support better education or more education? Better education.
Do you think there should be an ethics committee to govern Town employees and officials and hold them accountable for their actions? First
there must be a map/guidelines and job descriptions and expectations before you can hold people accountable. I believe in reviews with employees and consistent training before people can expect enforcement.★.
